Twenty years in.
Still digging deeper.
DiagAutoClinic started in 2004 as a hobbyist deep dive into vehicle electronics. What began as curiosity about CAN bus and ECU communication became a two-decade commitment to understanding what most diagnostic tools deliberately obscure.
DAC operates nationwide via mail-in. Geography is not the constraint — the work is. Send the ECU, get back answers and verified work.
The vehicle is a network
A modern vehicle is a distributed system on wheels. Routing, access control, packet filtering, failure domains, security boundaries — all of it applies. Same engineering principles. Different physical layer.
This is why DAC can isolate faults that defeat mainstream diagnostic tools. The tool scans codes. DAC reads the network.
| Vehicle Component | Network Parallel |
|---|---|
| Gateway (GW) | Router / Firewall |
| ECU / control module | Server |
| Cluster / BCM | Authority / Domain controller |
| Every other module | Nodes on the network |
| DTC / fault code | Log entry — symptom, not cause |
Mail-in is the primary channel
Send the VIN first
Before anything is removed from the vehicle, send the VIN and fault description via WhatsApp. DAC confirms whether the work is viable, what's needed, and what the outcome will be.
Ship the ECU
Package the unit securely — bubble wrap, rigid box, fragile label. Use any courier: Fastway, RAM, Aramex, PostNet. Send DAC the tracking number. Nothing starts until it arrives safely.
Video confirmation
When work is complete, DAC sends a video call before requesting the balance. You see the ECU responding before it ships back. No payment on faith — payment on proof.
Banking details — R1 500 deposit required before work begins.

Why it exists
Manufacturer diagnostic platforms lock data behind subscriptions, proprietary hardware, and dealer networks. Independent shops pay thousands for tools that still hide what's actually happening on the CAN bus.
DACOS is built on the principle that the technician who is accountable for the outcome deserves to see everything the vehicle is saying — not a filtered version of it. Hardware-agnostic. No per-VIN licensing. No data phoning home.
Specialists, not generalists
Independent workshops
Shops that have run out of road with their own tools. The vehicle won't communicate, the ECU won't program, the key won't sync. DAC is the next call.
Vehicle owners
Owners who have been quoted thousands at a dealer and want a second opinion — or a definitive answer. Send the VIN. Get a straight assessment before any parts are ordered.
Mechanical workshops
Mechanics who are strong on hardware but know when the problem has moved into the electronics layer. DAC handles the network side; you handle the mechanical outcome.

Send the VIN first.
Everything starts there.
Confirm the job is viable before anything is removed. No surprises, no wasted courier costs.
